HAtm-8.0: Partnering with Mitsubishi Electric

In July 2021, the Mitsubishi Electric company reached out to Hine Automation, asking if Hine could help provide an atmospheric robot with specific requirements. Mitsubishi Electric had a growing number of customers interested in an industry-leading robot with higher placement repeatability than was currently available.

As a result of several collaborative conversations, we decided to work together, and a partnership was born…

The Hine and Mitsubishi Technical teams have worked closely together to develop a new product – the HAtm-8.0, a next-generation atmospheric robotic arm to handle the semiconductor industry’s evolving throughput and accuracy demands.

Representatives from Mitsubishi acting as a team over multiple sessions in 2022 discussed how to meet these demands.

The HAtm-8.0 uses some Mitsubishi Electric components- motors and controllers with a few additional design improvements to provide a higher/tighter placement repeatability spec than many of the existing robots in the market. The HAtm-8.0 is in the finishing phases of design, mechanical integration is well underway, and released controls are just beginning. A prototype is targeted to be ready at the end of the year.

Hine is excited to be a part of this joint project and looks forward to the challenge of providing a new state-of-the-art robot.
